Sooooo turns out we live super close to one of the coolest dog parks I’ve ever been to. There’s a massive fenced in dog park across the parking lot from the lake which is a great opportunity to take your dog to run around, play fetch, and then finish off with a dip in the lake. But because we know Boonie love the lake so much, we tend to just bring him here.

The first time I came here, I was a bit skeptical because you drive around the airport outskirts into a bit of a weird industrial area, and I kept thinking – how is there a dog park tucked in here, but wham: there she is. And this park is HUGE. 90 acres to be exact. Even if you dont have dogs, its a great park to go walk around in or play a game of Ultimate Frisbee. There’s 18 holes here surrounded in nature with a trails dipping in and out of the trees. It truly doesn’t feel like you’re in Fort Lauderdale or right near an airport for that matter.

The Park:

The lake itself is MAGIC. Once you cross the parking lot, there’s a two way gate to get through. Once you’re in, there’s a railed walkway that takes you down to the main access point of the lake. This is also the “meeting point” for other dogs to come scout out the newcomers haha. Imagine being an anti-social dog and going into a place like this where as soon as you enter that gate, you have 13 dogs BOLTING at you.

My favorite part about coming here is definitely meeting the other dogs and getting to watch Boonie meet new friends. We’ve been here a handful of times now and have started to make friends with the regulars as well which is great.

If you’re in Fort Lauderdale and you have a dog that loves water, you have to check out this spot. Dog swim hours are 7am – 7pm.
